Center CVD for E-maxx
 

Hi

I just installed my new servo (Hitech 5645) and the UE servo saver.

I am currently driving the stock center plastic axles, but when I am turning left the servo saver touches the axle.

I know that I will solve the problem by getting som CVD´s, but my question is, if I can do anything to prevent this before I recieve a center CVD?

Is the only center CVD, for a non extended g-maxx, the MIP CVD´s? I can find the UE in an extended version, but not for the normal size chasis?

The MIP's are nice for center. I use them too, with stock sliders to the wheels.

If you are planning on upgrading the cvd's to the wheels as well, you might consider buying better diffs as well, they are released by some stress because of the flex in the plasic shafts. (centers won't hurt though)

For the time being, can you limit your travel of the steering servo? (don't know what setup you're using)

I allready have MIP´s for the front and rear, and they work fine. I haven´t had any issues with the diffs yet.

I cannot limit the travel of the servo, cause I am using the stock radio. Can it be done without another radio?

I read somewhere that you could use the 3.3 center axles and that they were alot beefier than the stock plastic. I have a broken rear center axle right now, I was going to stop by the LHS this morning and check it against the 3.3 drivetrain.

All the 3.3 shafts should fit they are the same length and i dout traxxas would have changed the the fitment in the diffs.

Yes, the 3.3's fit easily. I believe you may have to shorten one of the centers a bit, I can't remember, someone else can tell you though. The e-maxx guys over in the traxxas forum are beginning to swear by the 3.3 shafts, most claim that they are better than mips. Many say they have bent or otherwise destroyed the mips, where the 3.3's are holding up very very well. I do know I will have to trim down a 3.3 center to fit in my e-revo with an e-maxx tranny, don't know if this is indicative of how it will work in an e-maxx or not.

Are they talking the axle shafts or center shafts?

Center shafts are a little too long. You have to cut them down about 1/2". You also have to grind some of the chassis right by the tranny to clear the thincker shaft. I'm running them right now. They are much beefier than stock.

I also am running the 3.3 center shafts with M.I.P to the wheels. I like the 3.3 alot. You do have to cut them down & remove some of the chassis (easy to do with a drammel). I did brake the rear drive shaft yeasterday. (running in grass W.O.T and rear spool) but they are much cheaper to replace.

They are using both centers and axle shafts, but only have to trim the centers.

Ya I think everybody's truck looked like that when they got started out....I know mine sure did.....but half the fun is building and upgrading them....

I love taking pics of upgrades and then looking back on them. Don't forget, the other half the fun is driving them and crashin them....thrash'em until you crash'em!
