Are there other motors that will work with a SuperDuty ESC

Have a Novak XR Super Duty ESC that works but the HV4.5 motor has a stuck rotor or what ever that code. I spoke with Novak sometime ago and the motor needs replaced. Was just checking it there are other motors that will work with the esc. Anyone out there have an idea? Probably has to be a sensored motor right?

Never mind. Tossing that idea out and the controllers go bye also.

Well, being literal, the Super Duty XR is a brushed motor ESC.

If you were reunning brushless maybe you mean the HV-Maxx or HV-Pro ESC.

The simple answer is that as of today, any Novak Brushless ESC requires used of a sensored motor.

I remember buying this advertised as an HV-Mav esc can't remember if this one came with one of the motors I use to have or just by itself. I've gone through a few of the Novak HV esc and several 4.5 and 6.5 motors.

I see in the instruction for a Super Duty indicate a brushed type motor and it has the 4 wires coming out of it. Why would a brushed type controller come with only a single set of wires (3 wires) for one motor? Like a brushless motor has three wires. It ran great up until the motors rotor got stuck. Check it out.

I've got two boxes just like in the picture but don't know which one it came it. Are there two versions of the SuperDuty ESC out there? Brushed and Brushless?

If not I got the only one maybe.

Might be a really old example. The brushed sd was the only one I was aware of, maybe the cases of the sd and hvmaxx are interchangeable? Anyways, any novak motor should work, and some of the other brand, orion, lrp, etc should work...

That first one (that says "Super Duty XR) is probably an HV-Maxx with the wrong label on it. I've got two Super Duty XRs and they only have two wires coming out of them for the motor, and do not have a a sensor port. The cases for the Super Duty XR and HV-Maxx are identical as far as I can tell (the Super Duty has a rubber plug in the hole where the sensor port is on the HV/Maxx/HV-Pro). So maybe someone switched cases, or the wrong case (with the brushed ESC label) was used for that first ESC.

Boy, this must be confusing. It is good that you were able to post pics.

Either way, you still have to uses sensored motors with these.

Yeah, you actually got me to read the Instruction manual ta_man. Wasn't util I thought about connecting the motor up I grabbed it and look at the wire count. It is identical to the other HV-Max I had. Just the label is different. Thanks for the help guys. I am just going to unload this thing anyways. They were good controllers back in the day but I don't have any use for one now.
