BEC question

I just recently changed the steering servos on my LST2 to higher torque ones, my question is does the BEC on the Mamba Monster enough or should I install an external BEC?

Should be ok but that said for $20 i normally add a CC BEC on almost all of my cars now.

Yeah I guess it doesn't hurt to install one since they're so cheap.

I installed a Savox ultra speed servo in my hyper and it was too much for the internal BEC, had radio gliches... Put in the CC BEC and all was good. Worth the $20.

I've also upgraded the wire gauge on most of my servos, I just cant see 20 gauge wire pulling 5 amps without a lot of voltage drop.

I'd get an external unit. I know that a hitech hs 5955tg servo can shut over power the BEC in my MMM..

I've had the same thing happen as BB16 but I am using a 7950th.

I love the CC BEC for the adjustable voltage. Give those new HV servos the voltage they crave, but then if you want to use the BEC with 4.8-6V servos it's no problem.

I was pumped when I saw the MMP had an adjustable BEC (even if it only goes to 7V) but IMO Castle kind of dropped the ball on that one. I've had problems with it, and the reports seem very common of others having the same issues.

I run a Savox 1267MG servo in my SCRT10, with the MM Pro internal BEC it powered the servo ok with a receiver cap, but wouldn't power the LED's at all (5mm) even if I upped it to 6/7V. I'm running a cheap Hextronik 3 Amp BEC now and all is fine, servos, lights, no receiver cap. Strange because my external BEC specs are on par with the MM Pro's internal BEC specs. Perhaps it's over rated, or this Hextronik is underrated?
