Which Truggy to take to the race?
New race is coming soon; I need to choose which one to take:
Option 1: XT8 Truggy with NEU 2200KV motor that bolted directly into the chassis (I made the adapter). Already have it for many months, its going very well on the track, no issues at all, very reliable and stable like a rock. Option 2: Few weeks ago I built another XT8 but this time I used 1717 motor from castle clearance, The "1717 Truggy" is geared to the same top speed as the "2200 Truggy" on 4S and uses the same setup. I drove it once and liked it very much, lots of power and very cool temps. It is heavy but I didn’t notice any major behavior differences. Which will be better for a race? my main goal is max run time, not sure if I have enough time to test it before the race. Option 1 NEU 2200 XT8: http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...DSC_0265-1.jpg Option 2 1717 XT8: http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...8/DSC_0273.jpg With the body on ( I will replace the wheels for the race...) http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...DSC_0271-1.jpg |
I would race what you have been. By the sounds of it you have more track experience with the 2200. The 1717 is way overkill and heavier, more of a basher setup IMO. I ran a CC2200 on my truggy last race season and it was flawless, good temps and plenty of power

I'll go with option 1 myself. By the way, the esc to motor wires on option 2 needs more slack or else the esc posts will be ripped off of the board.

Thanks for your comments, I will go with option 1.
I will keep the 1717 for backup and practice at the track. |
