Is the TDR single speed hub really needed for this conversion?

nope, we still run 2speed for fun, duffs will last longer if you run single speed or losen the slipper:lol:

If you want to use motor brakes then yes, you do need to lock the 2 speed. The tdr hubs is the simplest method to so that.

Thanks for the info guys, Just getting to the end of the my build and I'm getting a little anxious in running it. TDR hub and some electrical connectors are all that is needed to finish the basic build.
