Converting from bashers to racers...

Well guy's, I'm retiring the Hyper 7/1518 /8S/XL monster.

I have found out that there is a local track near me (less then 45 minutes) it's a town sponsored project and the guys are great!

It's not a ROAR track so it's cool to run what ever I want, they divide up the classes by lap time not vehicle type ect.
So I'm free to have my high voltage goodness and all my Castle gear.

I've bought a few new RC's for this purpose and have some spending lined up for the next few checks.

I picked up a losi 8 buggy roller ($50!!!) and I'll be using the Mamba XL in it with the 1518 I have and a pair of 4S 2650mah 40/50C turnigy lipo's for 8S.
I'm also considering switching to a Neu 1515 2y (1100kv) for a bit less power and a little more run time.
The idea of the 8S is to have high efficiency and low heat.
I put the CC conversion in it but that will likely see a RCM or Losi mount soon depending on which one works better.

I also bought a Losi 8T electric roller ($250) that will get my MMM with my 1717 for now, and probably the 1518 or another 1515 2y on 6S soon.

Today I'll be ordering an OFNA 10sc RTR EP kit, that will get the MMP/2400KV kit in two weeks.
It's more for running with the pack (lot of guys at the track run SC's) and the kids can tool it around too once it's dialed down and dialed in.

Still going to maintain my XXXT as a loaner/kids RC running my modded MM and a 36mm aero 2300kv brushless. Not to serious with this truck, just a toy.

The wife has approved a $400 allowance with each paycheck (2 a month) for all my play needs, so over the next month/summer I should be able to put together some sick rides.

Sounds like alot of fun. I would love to find a losi buggy that cheap, as I have a cutom project that could really use the parts!

THe RCM mount gives you more gearing options than the Losi if I recall correctly. Might want to do some seatching in the older threads for that since it will be a concern with the HV setups. My RCM mount was abe to do 12/50 gearing without issue and without shimming the diff up off the chassis at all though. Can't wait to see them up and running though, I've been eying the XL for some HV projects myself.

Fitting the XL in the Losi looks like it will be just as difficult if not more than the Hyper 7.

Should have a solution by tomorrow morning :-)

Surely the best money I have ever spent on any single RC item. I love it.

I have a working scenario for XL/1518 placement. Maybe this time I'll drill the holes better than I did with the Hyper 7 :-)

Just a thought, maybe the truggy would benefit from the 8S and Mamba XL better than the buggy, and then you could put the MMM and 1512 or 1515 in the buggy. At least that's what it seems like to me: bigger, higher voltage system in the bigger, heavier, larger wheeled vehicle.

True, buggies usually do not need a huge motor, a 1515 is plenty. Tire weight is your main consideration for motor length. Heavier tires require a longer motor to get them moving and keep temps down to acceptable levels.
