MMP and Savox 1256tg not getting along...
 

So, I have the MMP and the SCT 3800kv in my Slash 4x4, been running the stock 2.4 radio and 2070 servo until Santa brought me a new Futaba 4PL and Savox 1256tg for X mas.

First run out with the new gear, the servo started glitching on me when I do rapid back and forth with the steering, and the receiver red lights.

Stuck the stock servo back in it, no glitching.
Swapped my MMP for the Monster and ran it on the Savox, no glitching.

A buddy at the track suggested to get the Spektrum capacitor, did some reading and I seen where alot of people used that to solve their problems...
Not my case, with the capacitor installed in the "Batt" slot of my receiver it still glitches, same thing when I try it in other unused channels, the receiver goes to red light and the servo slowly returns to center...

What next?
The Castle BEC? No shops around here carry one, and i'll never have it in time to race Friday nite, guess i'll have to solder on some 6.5 bullets so I can run this motor on my Monster esc...

EDIT: I forgot, a buddy gave me a Hextronic UBEC to try, only problem is you have to cut the plug off and solder it to the power leads of the ESC ( im assuming thats how you install it) I havent tried that yet

The savox servos are amp hungry, I have the SC1267MG and get the same with a MMP, the BEC in the MMP just isn't enough, but when I wire in a cheapy 3A Hextronic BEC, all is well.

For a Slash, do you even need such a big servo? From what I can see the Associated S2008 Servo is a good one to suit the MMP, and has no dramas throwing an SC8e around so would be fine for a Slash.

PS Good call on the 4pl, got one as my new racing radio and pretty happy with it :)

Did you wire the BEC like I stated?
cutting the plug off, and soldering the power leads to the ESC's power leads?
I didnt get any instructions or anything with it.

I just looked at one that had good torque and decent speed, figured it would help the steering and holding the wheels when im putting the power to it.

Yeah, as soon as I seen the 4PL had adjustable tension on the trigger and wheel, I was sold!!
Stupid reason to some, but everytime I used someone Spektrum, it just felt..."soft and limp" :rofl:

My Spektrum DX3.0 and DX3r both have adjustable tension as well. There are a couple recessed screws that allow you to do the adjustment.

I soldered a JST Female 2s balance connector to the BEC and connected it to the balance plug on the Lipo for power.

great idea! never considered that, any other tricks I need to know about making all this compatible?
What about the BEC settings in the MMP?

Just get a Servo extension lead, cut the Red wire, connect that between your ESC lead and receiver (don't cut the ESC lead itself, you need that in tact for the Castlelink, and connect the BEC output to the Battery slot on your receiver.
