Sidwinder SCT Max Current Draw
I am aiming to get the smallest, lightest battery I can get for my SCRT10. I am stripping every fraction of a gram I can. If I can get my battery down to something that will last me just a heat, I will. The real limit is what I can expect the 3800KV motor to demand.
Can you give me a ball park figure on the draw? I'll consider all "punch control" like options. If I do my job right, I can sacrifice punch if my ride gets light enough. |
Do you have that setup right now (minus battery) and an Eagletree? If so, you could run whatever battery you have to get a ballpark figure.

At 2s voltage, I would guess somewhere between 1400-1800mah/5min. I use to make a 5 min races with my hyper-10 1512 2650kv on 2s 3000mah nano packs. Lipo was a little bit too warm and soft (for a nano)after a hard 5min race. Some loss of punch was noticed at the end of the race.
I have heard a sponsored driver say "you can't use the punch of a high c rated lipo on dirt"(in a 2wd). I don't 100% agree with that because you can get away with a smaller lighter pack of a higher c rating with the same overall "punch" feeling. |

The battery I am currently looking at is: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXYKT4&P=7 7.4V 4200mAh 30C (Max Burst Rate: 60C/252A) I think that's more than enough. Before I was looking at a 3300mah stick-pack, but this one is only 30 grams more, and it will allow me to lay my pack flat. Getting a lower CG was part of the desired effect and that 30 grams lower might be better than the alternative. |
I have seen figures of 850 watts quoted for the motor running 2s
That would mean a burst of 115 amps or so at 7.4v Cheers |

that battery should run just fine on your setup. |
