Wide MT wheels?

Ok, so I am looking for a 1/2 offset wheel to fit the Losi Aftershock tires. Took a ruler to the existing losi wheel and it is 3.3" diameter and 3" wide.

Looking at the specs on regular MT wheels I am seeing that they are 2" wide. I do not think these tires will work on a 2" wide wheel, and they will lose some of the width that makes them work so well.

What I am trying to do is get some extra width on the 6x6 maxx without going to extended axles or arms, etc. It currently has the std maxx axles, and 14mm hexes. The losi wheels are 14mm hex too. I have had no luck finiding a 14mm hex widener/extender either. That would work if it exists.

I do not mind going to 17mm hex as I have traxxas adapters to do that. But the only 17mm wide wheels I can find are 40 series, and the aftershock tires are not 40 series. I doubt the tires would stretch over the 40 series wheels, and would likely look funky.

1/2 offset looks like it will work well, the current offset is just about 0 on the losi wheels.

What are my options?

OFNA makes a full offset wheel, got a set with badlands on them from reno911 for my savage flux.
Upon cleaning I've found that they are crushed around the outside bead on one wheel. Still holds together fine though.

Yeah, offset is not the issue, I need a wheel wider than 3"...

My other option is to run 40 series wheels. I found 4 super bolt-on tires and 4 big joes. The joes look better on the truck, but the boltons must grip well. Keep in mind that this truck is mainly run in grass and dirt, and only does about 15mph.

Anyone have 2 big joes or boltons? They do not have to be new!!!

Nova RC on ebay used to have wideners. Basically attached to the hex and added 1" on each side made of 6061. It was a good product, I sold mine though with the revo a while back. Maybe hit them up and see what they say.

I actually have some axial wheels made for the Losi 420 sized tired IIRC, about 85mm wide, ~40-45mm offset, ~102mm diameter, usable with 17mm hex or 14mm with an adapter that's in the box, I only have 4 of them, was actually going to put them up on eBay next week if they'd work for you, they're NIB. The name on the box is (AX8012 - 8 Spoke Oversize MT Wheel (Black Chrome) Says it fits 40 series tires as well.

I think I have decided to go with the wabash 1/2 offset 40 series wheels I have and just get one more pair of either big Joes or bolt-ons. I have 8 rims and 4 tires, dug them out of the tire box. I am leaning toward the big Joes, as they have a bigger footprint, and look cooler. Bit I am sure the boltons will do just fine.

Here is what they look like mounted on regular ol rpm stablemaxx offset wheels. These things have been mounted up for close to 5 years. They've held up very well. Currently found home on the twin force mud truck. They don't really narrow them up too much, but the rims are recessed quit a bit, which has saved the chrome and edges from getting all chewed up. I'll get you a pick from the front if you want.

Thanks for the pic junkman. You are tright, they do not look too bad...

If I cannot find a pair of big joes, and can scare up some wheels i may go that route.

I did the same with RPM wheels and agree it looks good. For higher speeds I don't know if I'd recommend it though, lots of sidewall flex. Although its funny watching the truck wiggle around. For your crawler though, I wouldn't worry about it at all.

Any rpm wheel will work to go with your losi claws and existing 14mm hex and come in 1/2" offsets. I like the 3 split spoke "claws" my self. Only $12-15 a pair.
