Rating on PowerPoles
Hey guys,
Today, my dad actually asked ME for help! We had a pump break down, a pump that we got for free since it was a manufacturer "defect", we RMA'd it, and got a new pump, and got to keep the old pump. He fixed the old issue, but ran into a new issue with the stock connectors (kinda looked like Deans with a bigger housing. And so I tossed on some powerpoles (there goes another pair), but wanted to know the rating on these. I used 30amp contacts for the simplicity, instead of bending the 45amps in shape, and stuff, however the little sticker says there'll be about 5.3 amps... but +115 volts... Will the powerpoles be able to handle this pump? Thanks! |
Well that's only ~600W. The 30A Powerpoles are roughly equivalent to 17AWG wire cross-section wise, and 16AWG wire is rated for 9A at 115V (based on the extension cords we sell at work). I think they will work fine.
