New motor or repair Kit? 2200kv
I break the rotor magnets of a 2200kv in pieces running in the street, the motor was in a Savage(TCS)1/5. New motor or repair Kit? I ask because the motor smell a lot burned.

New motor
I would think that a new motor is in order. From what you described rebuilding this motor would more than likely end in disaster anyway, so it would be my suggestion to just order a new motor and double check your setup for issues. Why did the motor fry to begin with? Maybe a better/bigger motor is in order as well for the size of your vehicle. Is the ESC still any good, or is that suspect as well? Looks like you have some homework to do so you can get this thing setup the right way to avoid buring up more electronics. Good luck with that.

It burned because I continue use it after I hear a grinding sound, I was thinking that the sound come from the transmission, never goes in my mind that the sound come from the motor. I'm going to borrow a motor to check is the MMM is ok, but 0 smell of smoke on the MMM and the start up is ok.
So, I'm going to start looking for a 1518 or 1520 on ebay... I like to put a 1717, but is not possible with mayor modifications or someone know how to resolve the motor mount issue ? |
Just buy a new motor.

Look for a used one on RCGroups.com in the for sale forums.
Or you could pick up a clearance NEU 1515 right here on RCM :-) |
You will LOVE the 1518 motor. it is all I run now. Gear higher and it runs stronger than the 1515 in any of my vehicles. Runs cooler and won't blow the rotor like a 1515 does when it gets hot. I have never blown a 1518 because they simply dont turn as many RPM. I have sure blown a couple 1515 rotors....That is my experience with the 1518.

What do you think guys will perform with these specs ? Will get hot ? The roll out pinion is 15. I'm going to use 18. The 1717 will run very nicely on 6s but the biggest problem will be getting it in the truck and getting a decent gear mesh ?
Heres what I did Will need a RCM 3.3 Revo conversion motor mount and look here. http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28168 |
