Mamba Monster wire broken.

Hi guys,

I've just sent this e-mail to Castle Creations and was wondering whether anyone else has had this problem before?

Whats happened is I have my ESC servo taped to the chassis, the case halves came apart and because of this the top half, which has the ESC in, bounced around and tore the receiver wire clean off the PCB.

Has anyone had this happen before and did Castle replace/fix the ESC?

Thanks,
Jonny

Hi Castle,

I've got a warranty query regarding one of my Mamba Monster ESC's.

I have it installed in my RC8 buggy but the receiver wire has snapped off of the board. What has happened is that the case has split open mid race and because the ESC/Top half was loose from the bottom half it managed to rip the wire clean off of the PCB.

I'm guessing that it's not something which I can repair judging by the size of the wires and the size of the contacts they need soldering too without shorting them.

Is this something that is covered by warranty as it's the case splitting open which has caused this? The bottom half of the case is still taped down on the buggies chassis.

Thanks,
Jonny

Torn rx wire used to be quite common due to lack of a proper mounting system; these days people largely use the traxxas BL erevo/ emaxx mount for the MMM, which has a spot for the on/off switch too; the esc and switch cannot be separated so no more torn wire.

In any event, I woud stick the on/off switch to the esc case & wrap a zip-tie around the esc too- the case is made of quite flexible plastic so does tend to pop apart in a crash or bad/ heavy landing.

I use the Traxxas mount on both my truggy and my E-Revo, but I don't know of a way to install one on the RCM RC8 Chassis.

Got a dremel?

Just use the ziptie trick then & stick the switch to the side of the esc then,- even of the esc decides to try & escape the switch wont get left behind resulting in a torn wire.

I will use a zip tie in future underneath the case so it can't split in future. I've bypassed the switch by shorting the switch wire as I find it much easier.
