IB3800's stutters

It did this with my Titans after awhile, then my hv maxx, and now my 9920/10xl set up. it generally takes some time but they start to make everything stutter real bad. If i take it easy on the throttle, it does it very little, but when i'm coasting and then drop the hammer, it bogs totally out. Could my connectors be bad? I checked for loose connection and con't find one. it's FRUSTATING!! I can't jsut get up and GO, unless i'm already worked my way up a little! Anyone know what's going on?

What connectors are you running?
It may be a loose connection in the pack to.
Bad solder joint or something.

Mike.L 04.26.2006 08:39 PM

do you use deans plugs?

neweuser 04.26.2006 08:39 PM

Deans. How do i tell if they are bad connections in the batts between cells?

Mike.L 04.26.2006 08:52 PM

the deen's package comes witha diagram that shows how to wire the polarity correctly. the plug has polarity markings on it. do you have your shrink on? just asking.

How are the batteries built? If they are stick packs then that may be the problem.

neweuser 04.26.2006 09:23 PM

I ordered them thru cheapbattpacks.com and they did them. they were built like end to end not side by side...i hope this is not the problem, i've only had them for 3 mo not even, and paid 110.00 for them...the use to run fine when i first got them, and it just persisted more and more now...do u think maybe this is why my hv ran so HOT

MetalMan 04.26.2006 09:28 PM

If they are end to end (AKA stick packs), then they might be built using thin nickel strips between the cells that limit the current that can flow through them. What you can do is take apart these packs and rebuild them in side by side format for a lower resistance.

Having a stick pack won't make your HV-Maxx run hotter, it'll make it run cooler since it has less of a load.

that makes sense...thanks. i've seen those thin strips of metal before. i need to get the hobby shop and get some rods. what kind would be less resistant?

MetalMan 04.27.2006 08:42 AM

Pretty much any battery bars made for sub-c cells will work.

neweuser 04.27.2006 09:14 AM

Any ideas to make my 7 cells fit? I have the custom made cells from battpacks.com that fit the emaxx...so if do them side by side...hmmmm? maybe have a diagram? thanks!

http://www.traxxas.com/support/index...ight=7%20cells read through this.

neweuser 04.27.2006 01:57 PM

thanks guys...I'm buying a soldering jig tonight!!! if this isn't the problem when i go full throttle and it totally bogs...what's next to check?

coolhandcountry 04.27.2006 05:40 PM

Do you have a way to check the voltage on the pack when it is charging? I wondering if you have a bad cell in the pack as well. Is one cell getting hotter than the others when running?

neweuser 04.27.2006 05:53 PM

I don't have meter, and my charger doesn't say. But when i feel my batts they all feel the same. You would be able to really tell if one was definately bad right?
