hey guys, not sure if there is already a post on this, think I saw something about it a while back. anyway I got the kit from a guy on rc-crawler.com for $40 shipped with all the bits needed. took about an hour to do it and the hardest part was removing the reflector and adhesive from the lcd screen. have a link somewhere with full instructions and pictures if anyone is interested but it was pretty straight forward and the results are supoib:yipi: blue is the base color but others were availible for a little more like $5-10 more.

Do you have the gents contact details? I wouldn't mind that. I fitted lights to couple of my RCs (my XTM Rail has 8 LEDs at the front and two at the back. It's actually pretty easy to see where I am going with it at night but impossible to check on my radio or make adjustments. Backlit screen would be great.

there is a how to post in the thread somewhere with tons of photos of the process. Hope this helps. Like I said it was real easy cept for peeling off the reflector and adhesive from the LCD screen. Got to mess with the case a little too so there aren't any dark spots on your display. Once and a while when the radio is below room temp and I turn it on there are a bunch of horizontal lines on the display from when I peeled off the the reflector but they go away if I turn it off and on again or just let it go for a minute and warm up. Small price to pay to be able to see my display. Not to mention people trip out at the track when they look over and my screen is glowing.

Not being able to leave well enough alone I decided to continue to heavily modify my dx3s transmitter by replacing the dry cell holder with a 2s 6.6v life battery today. Tight fit but after some massaging and removing the front lower screw tube it's in. Soldered a new pigtail with a deans to the power board on the back of the switch. Only thing I am wondering about is it's 6.6 volts now and I have the alarm set at 5.5 but fully charged the fully charged voltage will be 7.2. Should I only charge it half way? Don't want to fry the tx since it's waaaay out of warranty. Anyone got an idea of how much voltage these guys can take when they are supposed to run on four "aa" batts?

Looked at the futaba 4pk systems and they also offer a 6.6 life battery option for the transmiters so I'm guessing they run on four "aa" bats too. It would seem that the voltage would be tolerable if fully charged if the companies are offering this choice in batteries yes? I know BrianG knows the answer I remember him testing this radio extensively in the past. Pretty sure he used a life too but....
