Gorilla tape

Do you guys know what is the size suitable to tape MT tires? I'm guessing 2"? Please correct me if Im wrong.

I use 2 strips of 2" overlapping gorilla tape - and hit it with a hair dryer to make sure it sticks well - never had any come off.

+1 I do exactly same thing with great results

i usually use alcohol wipes on the tyres first. The crap that is on the tyre when it comes from factory is terrible, but to be expected. Makes the already very sticky gorilla tape, stick even better.

+1 that's how I prep mine.

Hand soap and warm water to clean mine. I try to balance out the asymmetrical over lap with an extra piece of tape on opposite side of the tire, the same length of the over lap.

What about the tape wrinkling(compressing?)up after you flip the tire right side out? Or do you guys flip the tire inside out anymore?

Jahay 04.04.2011 01:19 PM

The tape wrinkling is bound to happen, i just try and get all the creases out once i heat it all with a hair dryer.

Since I'm using two strips of tape, I put the overlapping ends on opposite sides.

Normally just the tire. On my 1/5 scale tires, I taped the foams too, for good measure (probably didn't need to).

Brian015 nice solution, I wondered if that bothered anybody other than me. Jahay heating sounds like a great idea. I'll add both of those tips to my tire mounting ceremony.
