Brushless Summit reviews???

I have a desire to buy a Traxxas Summit...wanted to get your guys opinions on the rig first. I am not that keen on diff rebuilds all the time or constant repairs. I have read mixed reviews but I respect your more then any. I may run just stock for ever or might go brushless some day I dunno.

Its funny there are rarely clean rigs for sale anywhere and when there is one on flea-bay they go for top dollar.

Thanks
Paul

Oh ya Im talking about the 1:10 scale

Summits great!

Hi.I've got an MMM'd summit.Great truck:yipi:. It's better off road than my 3.3 maxx,Flows over lumps and holes.Jumps really well,is tough,I've only broken the T lock servos(before I knew how to adjust 'em) and 3 front A arms,40 mph + tree = broken, same with a lump of rock hidden in long grass:lol:.People were worried about the T lock diffs crapping out, they're fine as long as they're not locked/unlocked when travelling at speed, same internals as the revo vxl except the lockers. Mines fallen off a 40 feet drop in a local quarry, only creased the shell:oh: .The stock tyres are good for crawling, not good for 40+ mph, uncontrollable springs to mind.Have a look on the traxxas site.

I run a cc outrunner on 4s in mine, top speed may be around 30mph. With big tires and the soft suspension that is plenty fast! It is basically an erevo, and I know the tranny is strong as I have used it in custom builds with good success. Only breakage so far is a cvd breaking where I welded it together (made my own cvds).

I appreciate the feedback. This is one of those trucks Ive been contemplating for a long time and just never pulled the trigger. I have a birthday coming in may maybe this will be my treat to myself.

i just bought a summit and one of the first things i did was convert it to BL. I am running a tekin RX8 and 1700kv motor, purely cause it was laying around and sensored.

It is wayyyy to fast currently, i actually run mostly in low gear as it is a better speed for the summit. I am planing to go for a little bash with it tomorrow so i will reduce the gearing but so far i am loving it.

Also, one recommendation i do have is to use a bigger RX box. I do not need the rx box to be waterproof so i used the old style of hobao/ofna rx boxes which are massive.

Hi.the only problem with my MMM'd summit,is the driveshafts/cross pins,the pins shear,the driveshafts rip :(

I heard about the shafts twisting off but that was when first come out.
Any more good or bad news on these?

Hi.I've had an MMM in mine a couple of years, never had one of them twist like that,it's always the driveshafts that go to the wheels that braek at the cross pin.BUT I've figured out a "cure" for that. Take the part that goes into the wheel.put the threaded end in a drill, open up the plastic where it fits by using it as a drill bit.Get a galvanized nail, cut it so 3 mm pokes out of the plastic driveshaft.Drill it out with a 1/1.5mm drill,Put it all together, then peen the drilled out end out. Sorted:)
