Argh.. These bearings won't fit the E-maxx gearbox!
 

I already gave up on this cause I couldn't find the right bearings for the job, but I thought I'd ask here before I throw them away;

I converted a T-maxx to E-maxx, but the diffs and outdrives are still the same. I tried to put the differential in an aluminium gearbox, but the bearings won't fit. I tried to order some E-maxx bearings but they don't fit either.

Now, the question is, are the diff. house and ring gear different than others? (The others which the bearings need to fit, along with the gearbox.) Will not other E-maxx bearings fit, and I need to do a custom fit?

Would appreciate some tips on how to approach this. Should I just buy an E-maxx diff. house and ring gear? Or does someone happen to know which bearings I need?

There are 2 versions of diff & diff case, the newer version of the Tmaxx & emaxx diff uses a different sized bearing on one side, rather than 2 bearings the same- here:



Emaxx 3903/05/08 new style:

Uses a 8x16x5mm bearing & a 10x15x4mm bearing

Emaxx 3906 / T-maxx 'Classic':

Uses a 10x15(x4mm) bearing on each side of the diff cup.



Im guessing if one of your bearings wont fit then you have the older diff design and a 'new' diff cup- seems that way based on the design of your t-maxx and it's driveline ( old style knuckles and driveshafts etc ).

I would suggest you grab some new 3903/05/08 diffs from ebay to use with your alloy diff cases.

I guess I will just pick up some new diffs. These ones are quite old anyhow.

I got those pairs of bearings, but obviously they didn't fit the diff. house cause both sides only support 1 kind. Guess I would need a 10x16x5 on the other side, to fit the holes, but I guess the housing itself wouldn't fit perfectly. But the diffs are quite worn etc so I'll just get a diff that fits properly.

Yeah, the ring-gear itself is a slightly different size so just getting a different bearing wouldn't work, just easier to buy complete diffs from ebay for about ~$15-20 each.

I recommend metal shielled ........ are much better/hardener than the ruber sealed shits
