How to: Mechanical brakes with reverse

I know a few have wanted this and never saw a solution posted. I did a very small write up on hbf: http://www.hpibajaforum.com/forum/sh...=1#post1433342

All it is, is using a picoswitch(or equivalent) on ch3 to turn on and off the power to your brake servo. Shut it off to back up, and back on to run.

Did I do good?

I think you need to be a member to veiw the link Harold.

The spec's on that switch say - Max relay current: 1A @ 24VDC, 0.5A @ 125VAC (60W lightbulb)

Can it handle the low voltage medium current draw of a brake servo in a baja? To me it doesn't look right

If you have a 4pl / 4pk you could just use mixes...

Can you mix 3rd channel to be reverse and reverse to be servo/brake?

I think I worked it out - mix the 3rd channel so the brake servo is like a drag brake, so it is on at neutral and off with throttle/reverse.

I considered doing this a while ago on my MBX5T-E but after a little thinking, I realised that the ESC will probably be trying to go into reverse all the time, even while braking.

Have you actually ran this setup, could you confirm if it does?
What ESC did you use?
