LiPo on a stock RC 18T?
Can a stock 18T use a LiPo. If so, how may cells? I actually have the Reedy Mini Max motor in there but stock controller.
The thing went 23mph stock, 27 mph with the Reedy motor, and I just put an 8 cell pack in there (vs. the stock 6 cell) and got 32mph. Yes the motor was a little warm, and may not last very long, but it sure was fun. I plan on going brushless with it in the future. Thanks. |
i think 2s is the most you can put through the stock speed control
|
Pop out 110 bucks and you've got the mamba..
|
Won't the mamba run in the 40s or faster? That is pretty cheap for a brushless setup compared to the maxx.
|
the 8K can do about 55-60 mph!
|
I'm going to be putting one in a Micro RS4 over the summer...
JOHNNYMAXXIMA - it can but you need to some hacking of the chassis as they are a little wider than the stock battery tray usually. And you will need a low voltage cut off, but yes it will work :) |
Thanks Tom.
Wow, 11.1 volts through the stock setup? Oh well if it burns something up, I'm going brushless anyway!:027: Do I still need the LVC with the Mamba setup? Or does it have it built in? Thanks |
I believe the Mamba has one built in - LiPo seems to be the power source of choice for these tiny whizzy things
Personally i wouldn't run 3S on the stock electronics - you will fry them, and it could short your pack. Not to mention, you can put the stock stuff on ebay and get some money back :) |
the mamba has a lipo cut off built in
|
I've actually seen reports of 65+ with one of the Mambas on a RC18 with lipo although there isnt to much to report when he hits something....
|
Yes, the mamba has got this built in. The easiest way to adjust it (the lvc and the entire Mamba) is by getting an USB programming cable.
|
I'm surprised they are able to hit those speed at all; and maintain decent efficiency
The Comp-X is 8000kv - and to hit 60+ people are running on 3S lithium.... |
My brother had his clocked at 54mph with his comp-x and stock gearing.:027:
|
Its quite insane...i'm working on a Micro RS4 speed project - although having said that i think a 6800kv motor on 2S lipo in something that small should be more than enough...something that small going around 30mph
I'll be getting some 3S as some point (just for the hell of it) |
