Man prices have been steadily dropping on these Lipos. This one seems pretty reasonable price wise for a 6S 5000mah Lipo. A good find. I wish we had the money to spend on some of these right now.

My experience with Nanos has been 100% failures. The ones I got for my RC truck are slightly puffed and lost their punch in a short while. The internal resistance of the cells has tripled. The Nano I got for my RC heli puffed after only a dozen flights, internal resistance shot up to 30+ ohms in one cell. The tiny Nanos I got for my micro heli are really over rated and I'm left with 9 out of a dozen I bought. The beauty of these tiny 300 mah 1S lipos is that I can discharge them at their C rating to test them. I didn't go up to 35C, I only went up to 20C and that was enough to show how inferior they are.

Nanotechs suck. 65C constant is laughable for a Nanotech. Actually, I'd like to see ANY kind of 50C+ lipo out there take a constant 40C load at the leads.

how do they compare to the standard turnigy/flightmax packs though?

I've seen someone today comparing their zippy & turnigy packs after a year of so of use; the turnigys didn't do all that well but the zippy ( flightmax ) packs did much better; bummer about the nanotech packs but it's all food for thought... :yes:

mistercrash, I'm surprised you've had that experience with the nano's but I haven't logged my cells so maybe I'm used to their lack of performance. The Hyperions...well, we all love those!

that's definitely a clone of the 1/6 redcat shredder (or vice versa?)

It only comes with a 80amp 4s esc. And you can get a redcat version for $400. That's one hundred more than the hobbyking. I would spend the extra hundred if I were to get one. I'm sure hobbyking used cheaper plastic, hardware, etc., etc....

Redcat parts support isn't too bad at redcatracing.com

If I was buying one I'd take my chances on the HK version simply because of the saving on shipping. To buy from Redcat costs as much as a new ESC & upgraded motor

Redcat has really been stepping up, they are on v3 of the rampage and one of the main things that has been upgraded is plastic strength.

I noticed the extreme difference plastic can make with the "rovan" 5b I bought. The steering arms cracked and the spur literally had chunks fly off it. I switched to hpi parts and have no more problems.

They probably do come from the same factory, but spec'd differently for redcat and hobbyking. That's where hobbyking gets the low price.

Just like hpi's alphastar 2350. It's the same motor as a castle 1415 2400, made in the same factory but with lower spec'd magnets and laminations.

The hobbyking motorcycle (duratrax dtx450 clone) is notorious for cheap metal and plastics. The fix? Duratrax parts...
