spektrum questions
first, one of the antenna broke off on the board on one of my rx....anyone have any experience/success soldering one back on.
I misplaced my 4AA battery holder that came with my spektrum setup to bind with. I picked one up a new one at my local shop but it will not work for some reason. Are the original ones specific to the spek equipment? Is the wiring different? The rx is fine, pulled it out of another truck |
I've replaced many antennas on many receivers (never spektrum) and it always worked. I see no reason you can't just solder it back on.
Do you have a separate bind plug along with the 4aa holder? I know earlier spekky units had a bind plug that jumpered two of the three rx pins together. So, if you don't have a separate bind plug I would say that spekky probably did wire the 4aa holder to also do the job of a bind plug. I'll google bind plug wiring and report back if I find anything... |
all a bind plug does is jumper the negative terminal to the signal terminal.
You can easily make one with an old servo lead, just twist the negative and signal leads together. |
As long as the receiver wire is not the coax type used on some spektrum models, you should be able to solder on a new one. The coax ones can be replaced too... they just plug in to board.

I will just try to re-solder the antenna on and see what happens |
those 4 and 8 double A holders are notorious for bad connections, and they bend easily compounding the problem. I have a 4aa holder here for rx and servo troubleshooting that is wrapped in 3 directions with zip ties to make contact.
a rx pack would definitely work. or you could get out the voltmeter and troubleshoot your 4aa holder. You did have the dark color on the battery plug to the outside of the rx case, right:intello: |
Just post it back to spektrum - They've always replaced mine for free...

Why do you need the AA holder to bind it? Just plug in an esc with built in bec. I've never had a problem doing that. But you certainly need a bind plug or nothing will happen.
