D8T rear diff help
So a few weeks I was out bashing my D8T with a friend and his Slash 4x4. We were at a constuction site and I went off of a large pile of soft sand and landed upside down on my lid.
After this the truck only had front wheel drive, no movement out of the rear end but it would roll smoothly. This is a picture of the rear diff parts after disassembly. http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...y92/RC/227.jpg My question is, what went wrong and how do I prevent this from happening again in the future? Also, where do these ball bearings go and am I missing any. Thank you very much for the help, Nick |
if all the gears look good, it was probably just the rear drive cup's grub screw that came loose.

Agree, those metal balls are prob from a bearing.
I dont recommend using wd40 ore simulare fluid on rc as it will quicly deteriorate bearings and also plastic parts, not saying it is the cause here, just a tip. |

I'm going to rebuild the rear diff with a few new pieces while I'm in there. Thanks for the help, Nick |
Yep... looks like bearing failure to me. Diff pinion bearings take a beating in truggy and should be replaced pretty regularly.

I'll make sure to grab an extra one when I get it's replacement. This D8T has been almost bullett proof for me. What a great truggy for bashing. Nick |
