Which 4x4 1/10 should I get?
I never bought a short course.Don't really know much about any of them.I would like to scratch build,I don't like rtr.I like to know it was done right & well I like wrenching.Or kit if it is really worth it.Will probably use it strictly for racing.
Here is a few I been looking at,the most popular ones I believe. Slash 4x4 http://traxxas.com/products/models/e...timate-details Slayer 4x4(would do a electric conversion) http://traxxas.com/products/models/n...07slayerpro4x4 Team losi TEN-SCTE http://losi.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=LOSB0127 Team associated SC10 4x4 http://teamassociated.com/cars_and_trucks/SC10_4x4/Kit/ Team durango DESC410R http://www.team-durango.com/race-cars/desc410r/ |
What will you be using the truck for?

I don't own any short course trucks, but I have just built a Losi buggy (22) and if the quality of it is the same for the TEN-SCTE then my vote is for that. I just took the 22 for its first run on a rc race track (1/8 track) and the jumps on that thing were insane. One hour later I just wished I had more batteries on hand, because it just would not break. I had some really big crashes that would have my brushless emaxx (original 3908) in pieces. The 22 kit went together with no mishaps very straight forward. I would not mind getting that TEN-SCTE to mess around with.

Funny you mentioned the 22.Im in the process of building a losi 22.Going slow right now on it.Just got a few hopup parts, couple sets of carriers, few toe plates,& anit squat tuning set.Waiting till a extended chassis comes out till I get one.If not, guess ill get the stock :(.Its a good chassis, just wish it had just a tad more room, just a small tad.I want a 4x4 short course also.Ill probably start building on a Team losi TEN-SCTE or Team associated SC10 soon also. Was going for a slayer or slash 4x4,but I want a rc that isn't traxxas lol.The Team durango DESC410R looks good, but I don't hear much about it.
I love the e-maxx!Still my fav electric MT today.I like the 3906 chassis & transmission design more then the updated one.Use to have a 3906 that I modded up a bit. When I added 1/8 truggy shocks,3905 diffs, ceramic diff balls to the slipper, kimbrough spur,rc best Hardened Nickel Chromium Molybdenum Steel cvd set & blue evx2.I was doing backflips from a standstill on 6 cell venoms & would land on wheels everytime. After I added 3.3 suspenion & 3.3 axles,it did handle better. But acceleration went down allot & it didn't seem as fast. |
if you want something for all out racing, the sc10te is a good choice. the sc10 4x4 is also very competitive, but i've broken alot of stuff on both trucks.
in all honesty neither are as durable as a slash 4x4 platinium with a ssc conversion on it. the slash 4x4 with the ssc conversion is hands down my all time favorite. it handles as good or better than my associated and losi and i can get parts for my slash everywhere. here's mine: http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...cket/009-6.jpg their website if you're interested: http://www.ssclcg.com/index.php?main...products_id=86 |
