9920 cooked, used BEC without the jumper on?
I run a 9920 & 7XL.
Recently I jumped up from 14cells to 16, then again from 16 to 18. It ran amazing. 18 is the way forward, the speed the power and it even ran cool with a fan on top! I loved it. I use a reciever pack and the servo ALWAYS was powered by this reciever pack but yesterday, I plugged everything in. It moved 2 foot then stopped. I disconnected everything then reconnected everything one at a time. I noticed that the reciever pack wasn't doing anything if it was unconnected the servo was working from the ESC! I tried connecting the reciever pack in again then tried to turn but it only faintly moved, then suddenly all the wires from the reciever pack/ESC melted and smoke gushed out from the 9920. The 9920 looks dead and smells it to. What I just can't understand is how this happend. I thought the 9920 only used the internal BEC if both jumpers were on? *Confused* Hope someone can clarify this. :002: |
sounds like something shorted out. Where the black jumper goes did'n't touch the chassis or nothing. Unless something went wrong in the esc and it shorted out the rx pack.

The ESC is mounted away from anything that would create a circuit.

Looks like I have to bite the bullet and get a new 9920. E-mailed BK and FinedesignRC(???) replied and not getting anywhere with them.
Tempted with a new motor too. |
Thats odd Nick. Chris is a pretty nice guy. He replaced mine for free when it fried...

I've got a question sort of related to this: If you remove the BEC jumper, should you cover the pins? In my case, I removed enough of the shrinkwrap to pull the jumper off and was worried that the now bare BEC pins might short to something. So, I covered each with heatshrink just in case. Anyway, something to think about...

I don't unserstand how Chris comes into these Squee? I e-mailed BK and get the most random reply back from Chris, saying something about what I run and what is the S/C? It also had an attachment of a picture with clouds. So I was confused to how he is related to BK?

when my 1895 fried last summer I emailed Bk directly and they said ship it back to them...and they tested it for me....come to find out I sent 123 amps thru a 95 amp controller ...OUCH....fried big time....they then replaced my 1895 with a 2095 for $150.00.....which is way lower than a brand new one......with out shipping one back.....here is the person I contacted......hope it helps....
