Country Maxx

Okay so I ordered up my chassis.
I went with the FLM chassis this time.
I got transmission off of ebay as well.
I went with the 2 speed summit transmission for this project.
I haven't decided on motor yet.
Will run the Castle MMM though no matter the motor.
I was thinking of picking up a 1515 castle motor to run on it.
I can always just use my 1512 2.5d motor I have.
I get pics as I build. Still debating on bulks to run as well.

Well found a great deal on a motor and esc for truck.
Got them headed my way as well.
Picked up the castle brushless system off a 3908 emaxx.
I kind of liked the black motor and the esc mount as well.

I too like those black motors, nice to have something other than green for a build. I am wanting one of the black motor systems for my other UE build as well. So what made you decide for a Summit trans instead of using a RCM center mount? I just got a set of FLM bulks to run on a basher truck and they are pretty nice.

What diffs are you going to use?

coolhandcountry 12.25.2011 05:55 PM

At current time I just put the stock diffs with aluminum housing.
I don't think it will hold if push it to hard.
My motor has arrived and it looks good.
I still have not ran a MMM esc yet.
I put my new plugs on esc today and mounted motor to mount.
I got a set of truggy diffs but not sure to use for this or another future project.

I know alot of people have had issues with the Traxxas diff gears. In my experience, if shimmed properly and in aluminum housings they hold up better than you think. I've blown 3 sets of Traxxas gears over the years, 1 due to bearing failure. 1 was never checked or maintained after initial setup and ate itself in it's 3rd season. The other was a well used truck to begin with and lasted only a few runs before it started complaining.

The FLM hybrids are a really good option though, i like mine alot. I'd run some numbers through the gear calc though before settling on the truggy gears. Truggy gears with a trans makes for a really low gear ratio, perfect if you want to run some really big tires though. Btw, with a Emaxx motor plate on the trans, a 65t spur (68t stock) needs a pinion 19t or greater pinion to mesh properly as a castle motor hits the trans housing with anything smaller.

I will be running the summit mount for motor.
It be on other side of transmission. :)
As far as tire hieght they will be kind of large.
I got one set close to 7 inches tall.

The summit/Revo mount does give you alot more gearing options than the Emaxx mount. Should look really cool with the motor down low in the rear. I think you might need a UE monoblock or some sort of chassis extension to get enough room for the motor though. Can't wait to see some pics.

Got the motor and gears in.
Waiting on chassis now. I am curious to how it will all turn out.
4s lipo should make it move along nicely.
I am going with the newer style chassis.
Looks like the trans if farther foward then older style.
I hope my UE servo saver works though.

black motors are where its at

coolhandcountry 01.01.2012 12:22 PM

I don't mind the green.
Just like the looks of the black better.
Just waiting for chassis and such to come in.

coolhandcountry 01.07.2012 03:39 PM

Okay got my chassis today.
Wow are these lighter then the first designs.
Now for my problem.
I got the newer style chassis but seems my UE servo saver will not work.
It is to tall.
Does anyone tried this or know of a easy fix?
Do I need to sell it off and get the newer maxx steering setup?

coolhandcountry 01.07.2012 07:41 PM

Ue servo saver does fit.
Just had to remove the top spacers off it.
Doh!

coolhandcountry 01.08.2012 02:35 PM

Does anyone know if someone makes a battery tray to fit the FLM 10900 chassis?
I want to put lipos in them to feel more secure about not losing them.
Thoughts of things to do if not.
I checked the store and nothing listed in there.

coolhandcountry 01.08.2012 04:27 PM

On other peoples trucks.
Anyone hook up the 2 speed servo?
If so do you have a pic of how?

coolhandcountry 01.08.2012 05:49 PM

Took a couple pics today finally
