CNC Machining tolerance

Is there anyone here familiar with CNC machining? I have a CAD design for custom Savage TVPs that I want to get it machined. Someone helped me to designed it and RCM Mike tweaked it a little bit couple of years ago. I then changes a few things on the design. I just need some help to determine the tolerance that I should specify with the machinist.. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Typically +/- .005's

That should be plenty close enough for TVP's. Some moving parts and such would need to be tighter.

I used to be a framing carpenter. If we got within an inch we figured the sheetrock would cover it:whistle:

My usual tolerance is 5 tenths (.0005") but that's what some of our customers require. .005" would be more than acceptable for what you are doing.

+/- .005" would be fairly standard tolerance for this type part. The motor mount on that design was fairly intricate as I recall, so that may need to be a bit tighter, but for everything else the +/-.005" would be fine. Remeber, the machine shop will charge considerably for very tight tolerances(.0005", for example, is ten times the tolerance of .005" and therefore requires paying much closer attention).

Mike, thank you for the help! Would you be able to machine the parts for me? I have sent you a PM.
