Titanium chassis

Would THIS piece of titanium on ebay make a good chassis?

How would I bend the front skid up on it? All I would need is about 22 inches in length. 6 inches in width but I don't know about thickness or quality metal? The titanium chassis I have now is 3mm. I don't know about the quality. Its a hard core racing chassis.

You'd have to find out what grade titanium it is.

It seems like Grade 5 is the most commonly found. Which just happens to be the same stuff in the link you posted.

As for the quality of it, I don't know. I'm not as up on titanium grades as I am on Aluminum.

Grade 5 (6al-4v) is the good stuff, so for that your choice of material is fine. 2.54mm is not much thinner than the 3mm you have currently so I'd say it should be fine. For bending Ti, I just cold bend it. Be careful though, it generally has a lot of spring back, so just take it a little at a time until you have the desired angle. Grabbing it in a vice and bending by hand (and perhaps with a little persuasion from a soft hammer) should suffice.

Best part is if you bottom out on abrasive surface you should get some nice pretty sparks:intello:

Yeah, I want a Ti skid plate for my big on-road car to protect the chassis, but most importantly i want cool sparks at the track when it hits the ground.
