Idea for Castle...
Maybe in some future ESC, would it be possible to add a brake servo output? Some people like to run mechanical brakes, but then you lose reverse unless you do some funky transmitter setup. Also, using mechanical brakes is better for the ESC since it doesn't have to deal with reverse EMF spikes.
I figure since the ESC obviously "knows" when to brake vs reverse, it could send the brake signal to a servo output, which would always be active no matter if the motor brakes were disabled or not. Shouldn't take that much work to implement and would be something that no other ESC offers (to my knowledge). Anyway, just an idea... |
Good idea B.G.

so your asking for servo braking but still have reverse?
if castle can do that i would also like an esc that can fold socks, my only other requirement would be that this sock folding esc would be high voltage too |
Novak, Tekin and a few other esc manufacturers, used to have outputs for brake light leds. I figure the same thing, but a stronger circuit, could do what you are asking.

DO THIS CASTLE:yes: |

Servo splitter with a filter ?

On a side note; if this can be done, then a simple mod could be used to provide brake lights that would only come on when braking (not reverse too). |
The controllers would need two BEC's... current built in castle BEC's can barely handle a high speed steering servo!

But basically it's just splitting the throttle input signal and filtering out the fwd signal.
You could do this pretty simply I think with a servo programmer. Ie change fwd/left to have almost zero movement. Just thinking out of the box. |
Personally I'd rather see a dual brushed controller for crawling
Or a sensored mmm with a sensored motor upgrade - new rear end bell with sensors. |
