Tamiya TRF801Xt-e

Here is the start of my Tamiya TRF801Xt-e Truggy.

I bought this from Tamiya via there strach and dent sale. I was looking for a 1/8th scale truggy or buddy kit to build. For $200 I think it's a great truggy.

All of the parts seem to be of very high quality and everything went together smoothly.

This is also my first Tamiya kit.

Right now the truggy is at RC-Monster getting a electric conversion kit made.

This truck will have a Tekin RX8 & 1700kv T8 with a JR steering sero.

Here are some pictures.

More to come once it returns from RCM.

Been thinking about picking up a Truggy from that sale...

Lincpimp loves Tamiya he will be jealous. Always wondered how their kits were. Keep us posted!

Out of curiosity, what was wrong with it?

nastety92 06.06.2012 08:48 PM

There was nothing wrong with it at all. My kit was missing one small plastic part but I contacted Tamiya and they mailed one right out, very quickly.

This was a scratch and dent sale. Mostly just the outside of the box were suppose to be damaged but the kit was in new shape.

My box was new looking and everything inside looked untouched when I received it.

I think so. Even if I were to purchase all of the upgraded parts I still would be no where near the cost of regular non scratch and dent truck.

I can verify - the truck is quite nice - a steal for $200 IMO and I look forward to finishing the conversion. :-)

I'm looking forward to it as well. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Thanks again Mike.

Just got an update from Mike last night. The truggy is almost done. Mike just needs to cut the plate for the servo mount.

Here is a pic so far. I really like how he was able to keep the top plate for the center diff.
