Any of you using a MMP in a 1/8 buggy?
I know a MMM or RX8 would be a better choice, but, just wondering if anyone is using a MMP in a 1/8 buggy with success. I just bought a used MBX6 to add to my growing Mugen collection and was thinking of using a MMP on 5s w/a T8 1400kv. I love the mmp and I love the castle soft-wear better than Tekin....
Reason I ask is, I gave my Ten T to my daughter and she is running a T8 2650 w/a mmp on 3s and it works great. In reading some specs....it seems that the 1/8 is less than a pound heavier than the Ten T! |
It is not recommended or condoned by castle so don't do it!
Well, that was the legal answer. Lots of people have done it with great success. Just check temps often when you first set it up and then let 'er buck. |
MMP works just fine in 1/8th scale... just don't get too carried away with motor (looks like your choice is good).

I would definitely run an external BEC with it for extra security on the MMP, especially if you are running a beefy servo!

Since your a experienced RC'er I would say go for it, just monitor temps the first test run and gear conservatively.
I also strongly suggest a external BEC, this will allow plenty of juice to the servo and less work for the ESC. |

In rethinking this...by the time I add a bec to cost of esc.... = Rx8. I guess my beef with the Tekin software is petty. Just spoiled at simplicity of Castle software. If my motor ever sold I would be in business!!! |
