How can I tell what version MMM I have? It just let out smoke.

Drove fine earlier in the week when I blew the front tires on my truck. Went to hook up my lipo today and it let out smoke immediately. Didn't even get to touch the throttle.

I've had it for a while, but I don't know if its a v2 or v3. The sticker on the inside of the case says 2186 12/08 B:20

Is castle still replacing v2's?

Do you know when the v3 came out? I'm thinking that 12/08 means my esc was made in Dec 2008.

The V3's and above i believe have a 1 mm lip/hump between the fan and top sticker shown here.

Hmm, mine does have that bump. Wonder how much it cost to fix then.

This is what the bottom inside looks like.

I can't tell what failed.

That's a lot of crud inside the esc- it is a good idea to use some sort of screen or mesh material ( old stockings or tights ) over the intake atleast to prevent too much dirt getting sucked in, or over the whole esc even ( fine mesh won't restrict airflow ).

Non-warrenty repair is still ~$75 last time I checked:

Yeah, this one had a mesh screen over it but after I ran it for a while without one.

Neil has lots of old tights and stockings I'm told if you need some.

Bmr4life 07.30.2012 08:52 PM

LOL.

So what is that outerwear material? Maybe I can ask my aunt to sew me some stuff.

TexasSP 07.31.2012 02:14 PM

I think the outerwear stuff is just mesh air filter prefilter material.
