SuperMaxx Lightning rebuild

Thought I'd share my rebuild of Lightning. Got lots of info from you folks and parts from Mike.

So here's where I started, Kong tires and Dual HV Brushless

Base truck is a VBS equipped Lightning (first one), it has 8 gear diffs, RacerX, setbacks, a monoblock, dual servo savers and 8mm CVs.

This setup gave up the ghost pretty quickly when presented with 3s Lipos.
On to bigger and better things I ordered a Tekin RX8 a 1350kv motor, Mike's Slipperential and universal mount.

And here it is today

It's got some tuning to do, but the thing rips. It's running on 6s, either a single 3300 or new pair of 3s 5000 and a 16T pinion.

Lookin' good, Robin - the top plate on the universal mount looks upside-down, though? Makes me want to dust off my SuperMaxx and "update" it a bit with the Slipperential. :)

When I put the plate on 'right side up' it would cock the assembly. Seemed like the front mount was about .020" too tall. I put it together this way with washers to make sure I wasn't doing something dumb before grinding material off the top of the front mount. After a round of testing that's what I did.

Also, why the slotted mounts on the top plate? Are these for another diff which is longer?

Dust it off man, let's get these MT's fired back up. I think I'm going to have to build a track.

Exactly. It's universal in where it can be mounted and in which center diff you can use. I run an 8 spider center diff in my maxx and savage with universal motor mounts.

It's pretty well dialed for what it it. Sadly, I don't think any of these chassis are really optimized for brushless power.

so I've taken it upon myself to design one...:D
