Whats the best chassis for racing?

I'm looking to get back into racing and wanting to build a truggy first. What model would be best Xray XT8 or losi 8ight-t 2.0? I've been away for awhile but have been reading everyone's post on the XT8 seems to be alittle better than the 8ight-t 2.0. Point me in the direction I need to be in. once I figure out which one I'll let y'all help me figure out motor ESC and batts.
Thanks

This a matter of opinion. Both are great truggies. XRay is widely accepted as a top dog in terms of quality, fit and finish. Both trucks handle exceptionally well. I run the XRay myself, but have driven plenty of Losis to know that they also work great on the track. I would rate the XRay as a higher quality overall, while Losi has wider parts availability. Mugen is another consideration, as is AE RC8t. Mugen is like XRay in that they are very high quality, while AE is similar to Losi - very good, but not quite XRay/Mugen quality. All of the above handle exceptionally well and can win on Sunday. :)

Awesome thanks mike I think I'm leaning toward the Xray as far as fit and finish I like a lot. where is a good place to order one online? What comes with the kit if you know?

Another great kit is the HotBodies D8Te. Quality kit and less expensive than the others. I am a huge Mugen fan as I own 4 so I am partial to them as they are built like tanks. A lot of the mans are coming out w/E versions now which is sweet, but if you need a conversion kit RCM make the best. I recently bought a used MBX6 and converted it using Mikes kit .

If you are leaning toward XRAY, not sure if they have E kits yet...

AMain hobbies is a good place for most XRay stuff, parts, etc. as well as kits.
Regarding Mugen - I actually have a new, never used, converted mbx6T (also have the buggy) I am looking to sell. I bought the kits, converted them, and used them at trade shows for display. If you are interested, drop me a PM or email. There is no bad choice in truggy selection when choosing Losi, AE, Mugen or XRay. They all work well(and the HB D8t is VERY impressive for the $, though it does wear much faster than the XRay/Mugen cars).

I'm going with X-ray just for quality. I probably get it through A main and get mikes conversion kit for it. What motor and ESC castle creations or? I had a neu 1y in my losi 8ight t but I sold it when I got out of the hobby for a while. I think castle bought neu so if I want one of those combos it would be the same as my old combo right? Which would be the best for racing? Also what brand batteries and what size? Thanks for all the help guys with answering my questions!

For a 5s setup a 1900 kv for a bit faster or 1700kv setup for more efficiency. If you go 6s a 1300 or 1500kv motor would do nicely. The Tekin RX8 system is about as sweet as it gets as far as a sensored setup.

Never ran anything Tekin do you think that would be better than castle creations? What brand batteries TrueRc? I'm sorry got to talk to me like I'm dumb lol I've been out of the hobby for awhile and its changed greatly it seems or I forgot everything.

Nothing wrong with castle....I have 3 vehicles with castle setups. The Tekin sensored setup is just A LOT smoother. Tekin also gives you many more motor choices than castle. Tekin support is excellent as well. Put it this way....I recently put a Tekin setup in my mbx6 buggy ran it for awhile. I then drove my mbx5T w/a castle setup and the throttle response was night and day. If I could afford to change over all of my rigs to a sensored setups I would...of course it would cost me $2K +...lol

Sending you a pm

Wow didn't realize that castle is struggling I think that I'm leaning toward tekin now just trying to figure out what KV?

FG101C 11.18.2012 04:10 AM

I use a castle 1512 buggy motor 1800kv with 5s in my serpent Truggy and it's a perfect setup. Only problem is castle does not make that motor any more, but regardless the kv is ideal for my setup, truck is fast and has plenty of torque and everything stays nice and cool.

When Castle did their "limited run" of certain motors, it appears that those motors became hugely popular...the 1717, 1520, 1512 1800kv, etc... It is a shame they they did away with them for IMO if they were still making them, they would still be selling like hot cakes. Particularly the 1717 and the 1520..perfect MT and Truggy motors..

Here's to hoping!!
