I hadn't been intending on ordering the motor system for my 1/7th scale Hyper One Seven conversion yet. But the Black Friday 5 day sale had prices that were WAY too good to resist. Looks like I don't have a big enough pinion on hand to keep the center diff up to speed at similar voltages.
Even with an 18t pinion on there its going to be slower than it was with the 3800kv motor. I was running a 14t, but that was slightly too tall for the MMP/3800kv setup on 3S, it ran somewhat hot. With the MMM/2200kv setup I installed the largest pinion I had, which was 18t, so its going to end up slower than it was on 3S with the 3800kv motor. However, its going to have quite a bit of torque so I imagine I could gear it up further. I need to buy a selection of larger pinions to counter the lower KV with increased torque. I don't think this system will have any problems moving the 10TT along considering its the exact same system that pushes the Jammin CRT Truggy along as well. |
So, had a chance to drive it at the track today. Nothing but impressed with the over-engineered setup. Since its pushing a 6lb truck instead of a 10.5lb truck the batteries barely get strained, the motor never gets warm, the ESC isn't even warm to the touch.
3S 5000mah Gens Ace 40c lipo about a year old 18/42 gearing MMM/2200kv setup. At one point I think I was on the track for nearly 35 minutes on a single charge, and I didn't even finish the pack. I just put the pack on the charger and it only took 1800mah back. Crazy. I think the top speed is about 30-35mph or so, haven't GPSd it yet. I'm happy with this setup for now. Love the runtime. Kinda wish I went with the 2400kv 1415 setup on this truck. Might switch to that and run 3S/4S. |
The 15 series 2650 would have been perfect I think. yet to try it.
Got me one 2650kv in the sale and another 2200kv 1515 as spare for my kyosho MP 7.5 buggy which I converted to brushless; now with my savage internals (1515 2200kv and MMM) I don't race, only bash on 6S! its a blast! I know too over powered but fun! Try it! |

Had a few more track hours with this setup now. Its amazing just how effortlessly this motor system moves the car around the track. Geared it up to a 20/42 from the 18/42 it was running before.
Still no change in temps this system doesn't care about moving the 10tt around on 2S or 3S. Wonder how insane it would be on 6S, will have to try. :) Ran all day at the track today, its so easy to drive, so much torque on hand. Strangly all that "extra" power doesn't translate into mad wheelies and wheelspin. Just straight up acceleration with no drama. Wish I had gone for this setup from the get-go. Heavier or not, it runs longer, cooler, and nearly as fast than it ever did on the old setup. Handling wise really not much difference. The system gained about .5lbs over the old setup based on the weight difference between the MMM/2200kv and the mmp/3800kv weights. |
