Strobe Bulkhead/Shock Tower Braces

Yes, I am aware they are probably hard to come by these days, but I figured it couldn't hurt to put a thread out there JUST in case there was someone who had a set for sale, or maybe someone that would be willing to sell a set they have.

From what I've gathered, sweetride4me was the guy taking orders for them back when they were being made? I have contacted him over on the UE forum, maybe he will have something :party: My guess is that it won't be that easy, but hey its worth a shot, right.

Those are very hard to come by these days. Sweetride I'm sure wont have any for sell or he would have already sold them, but it's worth a shot. The last set I saw on Ebay sold for $250 within a few hours of being listed. They are nice though.

If I'm not mistaken, several months after I got mine I had a buddy pm me and ask if $150 a pair was a good deal. Im having a hard time remembering what I paid for them but surely it was under a $100.

I believe that they were selling for $75 a pair is what I have been told by people that were around when sweetride was producing them and he was having trouble selling them and thats why he quite having them made. Of course this is just what I have heard from others, but I do know they are rare now and no one seems to want to give them up. I managed to buy my pair separate somehow. There was someone on the UE forum selling just the rear and I bought it, then some how I managed to find someone willing to sell a front. All in all I have $200 in my set :surprised:

It just so happens that there is one on the bay now. Just a rear one for $175 buy it now.

His prices seem kinda crazy tho. I have been following him for quite a while, as he seems to be the main source of UE stuff that shows up on the bay...I know this stuff is highly sought after, but wow! :oh:

$305 for a set of 8mm TI UE CVDs and $175 for ONE strobe bulk/tower brace...:oh: Maybe I'm wrong tho.

I have seen the TI CVDs go for $500 that were brand new a few times. $305 isn't a bad price on them, but if they were used at all chances are they a worn out. TI CVDs don't hold up well at all, the stainless or steel is the only ones you want to run, the TI are really only good for show trucks. Plus his set doesn't have the TI hexes, so they aren't a full TI set.

The $175 is a crazy price though because the chances of you finding just the front are slim to none.

It's not uncommon for that guys prices to be high though, with all of my parts I have only ever bought 2 things from him.

That is called "price-gouging". :whistle:

There is no need to set a price that high.


Feeler: How much interested do you think there still is in the strobe braces in the rc community??

I don't consider it price gouging since a strobe brace isn't a necessity in life. If there is someone wanting it that bad, then they will pay what ever it takes to get it. I still can't believe I have $200 in mine, but I wanted it and price wasn't a factor when I found them.

I would say that the in the Maxx community the strobe braces are still a part that people would like to get there hands on. I would take another set myself if I could get them at a more reasonable price. One thing that does limit there market is the fact that they don't work with all of the aftermarket shock towers. I bought my set with plans of using them on my Gmaxx and found out they don't work with the Gmaxx towers when you have the extenders installed with the towers. Im not sure what else they will or will not work with, but the towers have to be a certain thickness for them to work.

I personally consider $200 a pair the absolute limit. And that is still alot.

The gmaxx towers are unique in their own right so I can see that they would not fit. I think the strobe braces are good to go with the UE, FLM, and ACNCM towers though.

I have been out of the game for a bit so I have to try and remember most of this stuff.

I got a complete set of unused 6mm Titanium ones for $175 a while back...did I get an ok deal there then?

Yes the Ti does not last as long as the steel ones. This has been discussed number of times on the UE forum. The reason behind this is because Ti has lower density than steel

I would say $175 isn't a bad deal for brand new. Personally though I wouldn't run them. They won't hold up long and then they will be worthless essentially. I only run traxxas cvds, they hold up great and there cheap to replace if need be. Then all of my show truck have either stainless or TI UE.

Was thinking Ti would have great wear resistance. :oops: I'm assuming the drive pins in the ends that go into the drive cups are what wear so quickly?

I'm not gonna be able to get myself to run these now. Looks like I'll be on the hunt for a steel set. I keep seeing people mention the Stainless UE CV's, but I've never actually seen any?...are these even more rare than the Ti ones?
