Soon
I just hope its not another 15-20 years before we get to see some serious results on this new idea. This could revolutionize the entire power storage industry overnight. Just looking at what these guys were able to do in just a short amount of time is amazing. From the looks of this they should be able to come up with a power equivilant to the lipos we now use at about 1/3 the weight. Which means at some point there may be a 10,000mha battery that wieghs hardly anything, that will allow a standard R/C run of 45 to 60 minutes running at full power. Phenominal potential.
This could also eleviate the problems with electric 1:1 automobiles as well allowing the creation of power cells that would allow for 300 to 500 miles on a single charge. |

Funny you should mention this...I saw on Tech Toys 360 yesterday an all electric car that can do 300 miles on a charge...( 5-6 hrs to recharge ) Also saw an electric motorcycle that was good for 150+ miles. Both vehicles performed as well or better than their fuel burning counterparts. So the technology is already there.. The car in particularly was amazing. The entire floor pan housed all the batts making for a very low COG. |
Tesla
Yea the Tesla super sports care has already broken some serious barriers and seems to be a great overall performer for the electric car market. The biggest obstacles to date are the power to weight ratio, and the potential fire hazards that Lithium has presented. This new thecnology breakthrough looks like it has the potential to resolve both of these issues, which will elliminate the fire hazard issues, and cut the wieght issues by 2/3's. The end result could increase speed performance, and extend the distance retrictions by two to three times with less weight.
Oh and in case the rest of you have missed it, Chrysler JUST announced that it will be unveiling its new electric super car in August that will mirror the Tesla in many ways, but at half the price. |
