Looks the goods. What I do not understand is the traxxas style bead? Can anyone enlighten me on this? How is it different to any of the nomal proline tyres that I am used to?

they do look really nice, might have to pick up a set.

If memory serves me the new traxxas bead is just like an 1/8 buggy rim. Instead of just gluing the tire to the circumference of the rim and hoping the glue holds it on, the new setup has a slot machined in the edge of the rim, so the tire would have to pull outward and over it to come loose. Much better idea, plus the glue can be put in all at once. Makes gluing easier, and I hate gluing like Jeff hates lent (NO MEAT ON FRIDAY, AHHHHHHH).

Is the bead also a little thinner due to this? Every traxxas style bead tire I've gotten from pro-line has ripped around the bead...

I have not hd a good look at those yet, but traxxas may have a stronger rubber compound than proline, and that is why the prolines fail? All of the stress will be on the rubber as it makes the 90 deg bend, so the tire does need to be thicker at that point. Plus impact damage at that area will cause more issues than before.

Yea, my badlands did fairly well, my mashers didn't last at all, but then my Traxxas Maxx tires completely ripping half the way around on all four after one run...But it wasn't at the bead, it was half way up the tire wall. Of course, I blaim the Maxx tires failing on taking a Maxx truck to a skate park...
