My buggy won't move, stuttering motor...
 

As the title says my castle neu 1512 1800kv motor wont move, it just stutters and I don't want to push it. Its in a tekno D8 with 5s 3300mah 55C and MMPro. Worked ok before on same setup with 15t pinion. Then the stuttering started, then suddenly it worked, back and forth. I tried first to turn up starting power to high in the esc, knowing the batteries could take it, and it didn't help. Then I tried to put on a 12t pinion to make starting easier for the motor. Now it wont move. I tried different battery, checked for stones and made sure it turns smooth when pushed. No go. Then other RC's took my time. (I'm building a tricopter:party:)

So obviously I will change back to 15t and low starting power. But it started to go bad even with that setup....

Any thoughts?

Check connections. Looks like a phase is having an issue.

Is this a new setup or a new problem in a proven setup?

Like Arct1k said solder connection could be the culprit.

If this is a previously working setup, is it possible you could have overheated the motor? I've had motors start to stutter after being overheated and losing magnetism. If that is the case the motor is toast.

The ESC could also be the culprit. Had the same thing with a Castle 1518 1800kv and a MMM ESC. I also thought the motor is toast, but as i switched to another ESC and the motor worked just fine i then hooked up another motor to the MMM ESC which showed the same stuttering well the only conclusion had to be that the MMM ESC went south.

I therefore would also recommend try another ESC with the Castle 1518 or hook up another motor to your MMPro.

First answer is the winner, but it took me a while to figured it out. See I had my esc to battery cable, being to long, so i made a loop and zip tied it to my esc to motor wires. Worked well for a long time.

BUT each time i pulled the deans connector to the battery, which is hard sometimes, I pulled slightly on the three 4mm bullet connectors on the motor wires. Me being overly protective against shorts, (after I burned a brand new MMPro on the bench when wiring up a new buggy, once..), I added a long heavy duty piece of shrinktube over the connections, and I thought that would keep them from coming loose, but it made it impossible to see that the bullets were slowly being pulled out:cry:

So then started random glitching, hesitation to start, but when I had it rolling it could go full speed until it stopped completely, then I would have to gun the throttle several times before it would drive again. Then it wouldn't move at all. Just a buzzing noise when I tried the throttle, which I stopped and pulled the battery and went home. Tried the things I mentioned, no luck until Arct1k saved the day, thanks to you and the others who replied!
