Adding a cap

I have two blown novak HV maxx escs. I would like to remove one of the caps and install it on my mamba max (not pro) esc. I just installed an external bec to help keep temps down. I have read caps can help too. Seems pretty straightforward to me.

I just want to make sure, is there anything special I should know? Such as solder the cap wires near the esc or the battery plug? Or anything else?

Thanks guys.

Also, I have read the mamba max is capable of 4s with an external bec. Is there truth to this?

I have run many that way for years.

4s with an external bec? Good to know. I've been thermaled on 2s running a 5700 2 pole. Looking for ways to handle this 5700 motor a little better. Last few runs went very well, even a 3s run.

Still wondering about addint a cap... Should it be discharged first? I have one that's been out of use for five years. It's most likely naturally discharged by now.
