Lowered Carbon LST 2

3 Attachment(s)
I needed a way to keep my LST2 from flipping over on the turn so I took a lesson from racing and lowered the COG. I took some scrap carbon and built, for all intents and purposes, drop blocks and raised the front and rear mounts 12mm or so. In the DMV area so, the first dry day, I plan to see how much better it runs.

1/5th scale TC wheels on LSTII

4 Attachment(s)
I took the transformation of my CF LST II one step further by removing the off-road wheel and tire set and replaced them with a set of Delta Plastik 1/5th scale touring car wheels. Using the FG 18mm square wheel adapters, the wheels went on with out a hitch. Finding a screw to hold them on was key, but Lowes can through. Performance note, once the wheels are heated, they stick very well.

Nice!
Can you make a photo on how you mounted the hexes and wheels?
I am assuming you are using the stock LST2/XXL axles?

Big House 07.26.2014 04:27 PM

Absolutely. I will post pictures later. But to your question, the adapter takes the place of the hub and the wheel attaches to the adapter via a long M5 screw and washer.

Hmm, so you take of the stock blue hub, and slide on the square FG one?
But how do you secure the FG hub on to the axle?
Can you make some more detailed pics, that would be amazing!

Thanks!

Ruud

Hey Big House, that LST looks great!

Can you measure the tire and tell me how tall it is (diameter)?

Looking for a suitable wheel/tire for my big truck project and those might fit the bill!

Here you can see FG squares mounted to a truggy axle.

FG wheel adapters

Ruud,

Here are the pics of the adapters on the axle. They are connected by two 6mm grub screws that connect to the axle hub. The bore in the adapter is 8mm so they will fit on the axle. Here is the adapter on the truck. I used a bearing as a spacer. This is the wheel I am running as well.

Aerodynamic additions

I had a DM-1 parts car laying around and decided to modify the rear diffuser to fit my GTP. My fastest run with it was 102.5. Maybe this will aid in stability and give me a few more MPH. I also added a rear spoiler to my LST2. I cannot wait to run this one. 53 is the best I could get before it went all squirrelly.

Carbon LST2 wrecked

After a couple of test and tune speed runs in the neighborhood, on the last run of the day, the rear end pushed the monster into a tree and I clipped the rear. Completed separated the rear right side bulk head. Clean break with nothing else broken. I did manage to hit 61.5 mph before the tree ended all my fun. Shooting for mid 70's so back to the lab.
