Center diff for e-maxx

Hey Guys. I've convinced my brother to slap a center diff in his e-maxx.

I know their is only like 2-3 diffs you guys use because they allow a plastic spur gear. which ones were they and which one would u suggest?

Well, you don't need a plastic spur anymore, because Mike has got the hardened pinions.

I would stay away from the standard ofna type. It's rather weak. the 8spider from ofna is pretty cool though.

This is the only one I was able to find on ebay with buy-it-now. What do u think ?

That's the rather weak one.

I stripped 3 of the 4 screws, so i put 35mm long screws in it. tells something about the quality of the plastic imo.

The gears that are used inside are rather weak, they are made from cheap pot metal.

From my experience with hardened pinions, they arn't too good. I got mine from Mr Constructor. They cost a 3rd of what the RCM are, so that might be a hint to why they only lasted a few runs. ;)

Well I had one from the mbx ofna with the 4 spyder gears in it. It was pretty tough. I never had a problem with the diff just spur gears. The center diff has less pressure on it than the front and back diffs. With the 3.31 diff gears it has that much more pressure on the front and back one.

You are right about this strength thing Leroy, the front and the rear diffs are the once that get the biggest hits.

btw, Mike offers a plate, that enables you to use the plastic ofna 51T spur.
