Opened up the milwaukees and look what I found
Well I got one pack with white covered cells and one with brown covered cells. Anyone know if theres a difference?
The brown cells read: Moli FSPE70045.2715 08 The white cells read: Moli FSPE70045.0176 10 I'll ask on some other forums as well and post any findings here. Pat |
Thats odd. Are they part # the same?
|
Well the numbers I listed in the first thread are the numbers on the cells that differ. But below them there is a line that reads IMR-26700A Made in Canada which reads the same on both color cells. I'm hoping that moli just used different color wraps, but the same cells.

From what I understand, the brown cells use steel positive tabs, and the white ones use aluminum. I don't think it would affect your performance to mix the two.

You need special solder flux to solder to aluminum. When you use it, it makes a TON of smoke, like solder smoke times 20!
|
I think that the aluminum is plated with something (maybe nickel?) that makes it easier to solder to.

Yes, the aluminum is plated. When you clean them to solder do not remove the plating or you will have to do as MetalMan said.
