CVD's for the G3 Suspension

Any help with this would be great. I'm coming up short with MIP's? Should I use something different? Are UE's longer than MIP's? thanks guys!

The UE cvds are longer. the instructions have you adjust at the pillow balls
for the add length.

newe, I just found out from the UE board that the UE are longer....I'll post the info here..for all to use..

You really can't measure the difference. The UE CVDS shafts have the ball on the end and the part that goes in the knuckle has the cup. The MIP's are the opposite, they have the cup on the shafts and the ball on the part that goes in the knuckle.

You'd need to compare the design length of the assembly. The length of individual pieces is meaningless.

Then you have to establish where you are going to measure from and to. Are you going to butt the drive cup against the bearing or is there a centering mechanism with the drive cup and hole in the output shaft.

Our assembly should be 2-3mm longer than MIP since the trx 2.5 suspension is 2-3mm narrower than the UE ones.

Thanks Guys! that helps. This is why I'm coming up short. I have UE diffs and cups! Is there no way to make my MIP's work? I'd hate to spend more money on new cvd's!

I ran the ue with mine and had no problems or compliants. The only way i know of it to take the pillow balls in far enough.

neweuser 06.20.2006 02:26 PM

Ok. Maybe I'll have to buckle up and get new ones and dump the MIP's. Was just hoping not to spend more!!!!!!!!!! LOL, but, it's alwyas more somewhere i guess. I'm sure the UE are great, but I've replaced everything and wanted to avoid the money thing! I'll try the pillows first, if that don't work out, go with the UE. Which UE will I need? the 7.5 diff cvd's or the other steel for reg maxx?

The ones Mike has. And you can sell your MIPs at e-bay.
