NEW and OLD HV Systems

Hey guys,

Now as much as it seems that everyone hates the HV on here, I am buying one and wanted to know if the OLD HV is just as good as the HV6.5 system. The price differs slightly so I could go either way with it...just want to know which system is the better one for the money?

Usually any newer version of a product is an improved version of a product. I'm sure the HV-Maxx is no exception. Given the choice of the old or the new versions, I'd choose the new one.

Also, it's not so much that people "hate" the HV-Maxx system, it's more so that most people believe you can get more 'bang for your buck' with other systems at nearly the same cost.

Those were my thoughts exactly...The newer version is only a few bucks more anyways so looks like Im going with that one!

Does anyone even run the HV system here??? I always just hear about the same set-up on here. Sounds like no one has the HV

I did. Had it for 3 weeks. It got way too hot. Would have 5 min of fun and it would thermal, then it died. Although they did replace it. I have more long time fun with my new system, it doesn't get as hot, less worries with it. I will give the HV props to installation though, much easier. But again, "bang" for the buck, i like my new system from RC Monster! WAY better IMO.

I had the hv maxx as well. I had two mounted on one truck. It was not very impressive for the money. One 7xl is alot more powerful and faster to.
The hv is a easy to install system and is pretty user friendly.

Coolhand, is there anything you don't try two of? LOL

Well, I could classify myself as a "beginner" so thats exactly what Im looking for. I am gearing it with 72t spur and 12t pinion. I think thats a middle ground kind of set-up. As for "newuser", im just wondering if it was over heating because of how you may have geared your truck.

7xls. I think the 2250 has about that power it seems. Destroy on demand. :027:

I run the old HV in a G2R revo conversion and in my opinion its almost too much for my track. I have a Hellfire and a 3.3 Revo and neither of them gives me goosebumps like this Novak does, its instant power that nitro can't compare with. I'm not bashing nitro or other systems, but the Novak is almost perfect for what i do. I do have a 7XL and looking for a esc for it and if its better then ok, but for now its enough to run with nitro's on a track and keep up for a change.:) :dft003:

my thoughts exactly. I hear the HV will kill nitro...perfect!

My hv had geard to 70/12 to start, ran real hot, then geared 72/11 and it got worse which does not make sense, should have gone the other way. Sent it back to novak and they replaced it for free witha brand new system. But by the time i got it back i had already bought the 9920/10xl. with the 7xl, i would maybe get the 9920...

The new rotor (new motor) should allow the whole system to run cooler. Has anybody here tried the new rotor/motor?

crazyjr 07.01.2006 10:33 PM

Not yet but i'll get one soon. Neweuser Mine runs about 150* on the motor in race conditionsand 150* on the esc (when the fan works, I hit so hard one time i bent the fan and it hit 225 and never thermaled), gearing on mine is 12/72. I hope the new rotor will help the temps

I bought my HV6.5 and im waiting for it to get here! So i guess we'll see what happens.
