Motor Question (Sound Clip)
When I release the throttle a weird noise occurs...is this normal?

That is very weird indeed! Does it run fine other than that tone (driving)?
|
I just noticed it yesterday after a full run...it seemed to do very great execept a lil hot on the motor cause of the 20/51 gearing. I chipped my spur gear so it won't be running for a few days.
I am worried cause my first setup (8xl/9920) basically smoked after 1 month and I just got this second setup last week. |
I would try and reprogram the esc.
|
I think it has a video game lodged in it.
Did you run over a games system without knowing? It is strange indeed. Does it do anything strange or just make the noise? |
Just tried it with no luck. Should I give it another run in a few days when my gear gets in or send it back to Mike for him to look at it? Sound is definitely coming from the motor and hope nothing inside is damaged. Perhaps, open both end bells?

Is there any play in the bearings (front-to-back or up-and-down)?
|
Yea, I'm with Leroy. I think you ran over Pong....
|
Brian - there is slight play front to back. Also, it rattles when I shake the motor

I'd be more concerned about the rattling personally. I'd send it back to Mike before you try prying off the endbell unless he says it's OK to do so. |
Thanks, the sound and rattle was coming from the slight play so I tapped the shaft forward a bit to stop it. I happen to damage the bearing cap in the process. Can I purchase this type of bearing separately? and if so where?
|
That, I can't say. I'm sure someone else will have the answer though...
|
Well the sound is still there after I plugged everything back up. No rattle since the shaft is in place now
|
No rattle, but the sound is still there. Hmm, I don't know, but I suspect the bearings. I'd send Mike an email. If you want to replace them yourself, make sure you get bearings rated for high speeds.
On a side note; how hard was it to pop the endbell off? Not that I plan to do it just for giggles, but if ever I need to replace the bearings, I'd like to know what I'm in for. And, how hard was it to pop back on? |
