My savage was short lived, any ideas??

I had the 8XL motor, and 9920 controller hooked up to 14 cells, running a 14/49 gear set up. I ran her, and everything seemed fine. motor was pretty hot after 15 minutes, not like untouchable hot, but very warm. I ran her again a few hours later, and all the sudden she stopped. Motor again was hot, I let her cool down, but nothing. Any ideas what went wrong? Motor blew, controller?? I'm pzzed as that was a pretty quick $300 bucks.:026: :013:

Does the steering work? Can you program the esc? Are you running receiver pack, ubec, or internal bec?

TIMN 07.16.2006 08:04 PM

Yeah, I had a seperate hump pack for the steering, and that's fine. I tried reprogramming the ESC, but no beeps from the motor.

Did you have padding under the esc? Make sure all your wires are hooked up and connected good. Batteries included. It is not hard to knock a cell loose from the solder joint.

Yeah, ESC was wrapped in foam, and all connections are good. Thanks for your help! I'll keep pokin around.

Check your receiver to make sure. If your steering works plug the esc in the steering port and use the left and right as foward and reverse. If that don't work I say your esc is shot.

Aren't you supposed to remove 1 or 2 jumper's when running a receiver pack?

Wrapped in foam.... Did it have any ventilation? How was the heat on the 9920? ESC will get pretty hot pretty fast if it cant get any air.

TIMN 07.17.2006 07:12 PM

Yes it had ventilation, and honestly the ESC was pretty cool. Only the motor was hot.

it seems as if everytime i read something about these chinese motors they seems to be almost always be reporting that the motors were very hot after a relatively short run.

Im sure that one of the Lehner motors would run more efficiently and cooler... But you have to be willing to pay for that.
