Rustler Brushless

ok, got myself a rusty i wanna rip apart!

I want to run 10-12cells, (not lipo, nimh thanks!) i also want a reasonably cheap system.

Feigao look good so do the wanderer's!

Need an idea on the lowest turn S or L can motor i cna get for 12cells and a controller to match up to it!

Cheers
Matt

The 8012 mgm with a feigao 12s motor would make it go.
I have heard alot of good things about it. I haven't got to try mine out yet.
If you want less cells you could try a mamba 4600 system.

I used to run 12 cells on my Rustler using a Feigao 12s, but now I run 4s Lipo.

The Mamba Max 4600 would be a pretty good choice, but I think it would be better just to use the Feigao 12s on the Mamba Max ESC. That would be a very cheap combo, only about $200.

Metalman, doesn't CC say that the 4600 can run on 12 NiMh cells? I know that will be very high rpm's, but if CC says that the motor is rated to 65,000 rpm's, then it should be ok, right? If that motor can run on 12 cells without overheating, it should be even faster than the 12s.

The 4600 on 12 cells would turn about 66+k rpm. I don't think I would try it.

This is a quote from the Castle Creations website:

Quote:

Max input voltage for ESC: 3s lipo or 12 cell NiMH/NiCah
Max RPM for CM36s motors: 65,000 rpm
4600Kv motor max voltage: 4s
5700Kv motor max voltage: 3s
7700Kv motor max voltage: 2s

The Kv of a motor is the number of rpm’s it will turn per volt of input. So the 4600Kv motor will turn 4,600 rpm per volt of battery. On a 6 cell pack we can presume good cells are holding around 1v per cell, so 6v x 4600Kv = 27,600 motor rpm. If we use a 4s lipo pack, lipos carry about 3.5v per cell under load, so 3.5x 4 = 14v. And 14v x 4600Kv = 64,400 motor rpm . This is right at the top of the motor rpm limit and is OK, but is beyond the voltage limit spec of the ESC and cannot be used.

You can use it, but why? It wouldn't be any fun driving the Rustler in straight lines only, with it flipping over all the time. Besides, a motor spinning at 65K RPM is going to heat up a bit...

Now I'm wondering how the 4600 on 4s would run in my MT2 with a ubec. Even if I gear down and use the small stock tires, I could be in the mid-seventies for speed. Slap on the Mashers, and I'd theoretically be at about 90 mph. :D

exactly you only need straight line for speed runs and jumps lol

look here...

www.modellinc.com

then you'll kinda know why I want a fast setup :-D

Matt.
