Brushless setup help
I'm wondering what a good brushless setup for Team Losi XXX buggy or Associated B4. Something with plenty of punch and decent runtime......I'm very new to this, so I'll take all the advice I can get.
The new Castle Creations Mamba Maxx is your best bet. For 6 or 7 cells, go with a 5700 if you really want good runtimes. it just depends on what kind of speed and what kind of runtimes you want.
Very true.
If you want a perfect balance of long runtime and more than enough power, the castlecreations Mamba Maxx 4600 would be my choice... (gives you the longest runtime!) |
Is there any battery brand you recommend? So 6 or 7 cells and would 3300-3800 be enough?
If you have to buy batteries, I would choose some LiPo's. But if you can't get LiPo's, I would go for some IB4200's.
IMO the IB3800 are awesome batteries for the cash. Prices are way down vs the IB4200. Excellent bang for the buck.
Plus the 3800's are better in performance.

They deliver more punch. higher volts at higher load. like the GP3300 vs the 3700.
Serum, were did you see this? I never knew that. The 4200's already have an insane amount of punch.
it's the same old song with the nimh cells. the GP3300's get a 100A rate from BK, while the GP3700's get a 60A label.
They still advice to use the GP3300 with highpower setups. the GP3300 is still going strong and tough in terms of durability and the deliver a high voltage at 80-100A+ they are used in highcurrent applications. I had bad experience with IB3800 cells. 5 out of 16 where out of balance in a relative short matter of time. i blame the way they where soldered though. The higher capacity needs to sacrafice something with nimh cells. (it's not about the 20A but the high current.) |
i would go gp3300, they are lighter too. i too have had issues with a set of 3800's. don't get me wrong, i love them and own three sets, but i see many of the 3300's beat the crap out of me!!!

I guess the reason I have had such good punch and performance from the 4200's is my truck doesn't pull many amps with the 10XL.
I agree with Squee. The 10XL needs higher voltage to get the speed as opposed to a 7xl or 8xl, but current draw is substantially less. And less current draw means the batteries will hold their voltage better and the reduced current is easier on all the components.
Most likely squee, the 10XL takes less current.
I am not too keen on those IB cells.. |
