supermaxx diffs

hi,what usually needs replaced for these diffs? pinion ring? any advise for what to buy for spare parts? where can i get a manual for assemblying the diffs? thanks for all the help. i have the 6 spyder version

The manual you can get off UE if they did not come with them. I have never had to replace mine, but i also run the 8 spyders. If anything, i would say the screws in the cups, as they are not aluminum cups. Otherwise, you should not have problems at all unless you really beat the crap out of'em! It also depends on how much torque your pushing out with the system.

A well built 1/8 diff can last a long time, years even for the ring and pinion, depending on how much use of course.Maybe just spare seals, diff cup and bevel gears is what i'd carry, bevel gears should last a long time too though with a good diff cup and set up right. If you look at a manufacturers exploded diagram for pretty much any 1/8 diff you'll see how they go together.

Yep Gustav said it, o ring's. Specially them big one's. After 5 time's re lubing them they broke.

i have a hacker 9xl on 4s lipo maxamps 8000 mah, withquark monster pro 125b
system geared 16/51 strobe slipper, i mainly use it for racing with lots of jumps medium sized track with some straights, i think my rear diff is broke for the bearing that goes to the shaft to the transmission is halfway out in it's diff case ,i haven't really took it out yet to really check it,

neweuser 08.20.2006 02:14 PM

Probably is. I would just go the extra mile and get the 8 spyders, but as gustav said, they should last very long time!!! seals are important, i have never had to relube mine yet, but they are newer so, when they get a few miles on them and really broke in, then i will. But the gears, if you get them brand new, they should come with the extra rings you'll need, if not(in your case it seems) then the gears should be fine, just get the o-rings so that when you do need to rebuild or lube, you'll have them handy!

what isthe best way to relube them, any links to it? thanks again, does the 8 and 6 spyder gears share the same diff housing? same ratio? is it worth upgrading mine to 8 spyder? and what do i need to buy for the upgrade? thanks again much

Topic moved the UE forum!

Sneeck pretty much gave the right answer! it never hurts to have an entire diff on spare though! Thing go, every now and then (especially when you use them.. )

If you bearing is half way out the case. It sounds like the drive cup may have worked loose to. You may want to check and make sure.

The 8 spyder diff has 6 screws instead of 4. It is same ratio as the 6 spyder.
