new to brushless
hi im new to rc was wondering how to wire a speed control for 2 battery pack all the ones i see are only wired for 1?
i have a e-revo i just finished and im looking for the right motor and esc but the esc's are confusing me since all the post i read every one is runing more than 1 pack |
Just about everyone here who runs multiple packs runs them in series. For example, an emaxx uses two 6-cell packs (7.2v each), but when wired in series, produces 14.4v. It would be just like having one large 12 cell pack. That's why almost all ESCs have one power input. Some, like the stock emaxx ESC, have two sets of wires, but that is purely for wiring convenience. Internally, the packs are wired in series.
As to what motor you need, you'll have to supply information like how many cells you plan to use, desired top speed, weight of the truck, etc. It would laso be helpful to list the hopups you've done so people can advise where there may be a weakness. Brushless has lots of torque so you have to take the strength of the transmission and driveline parts into consideration. Oh, and your budget would be helpful to know... |
right now i plan to run lipos in series but do not know how i was thinking about making a y adator to plug the battery packs in to and then in too the esc but this wont run it in series will it?
right now the revo has nothing on it only thing i have done i add imex cvds and a tekno wing mount i also am using the gmaxx single speed trany |
Actually, the Y harness WILL make it run in series provided it is made correctly. Do you have a pic of it? Then, we can tell you if it is correct or not.
On the tranny, do you have the steel idler gear? If not, you'll need it. Unless you have the G2R chassis, you may need center driveshafts as well. Some people say the stock Revo center shafts will work, but I haven't used them. What lipos do you have? Gotta make sure they are rated for the current a brushless setup will pull... |
Here's the harnesses:
